Call to Order
The EESAC meeting was called to order at 8:11 a.m. by Ms. Odessa Europe, EESAC Chair.
In Attendance: Ms. Odessa Europe, Dr. Angela Gayden, Ms. Constance Gilbert, Dr. Ruby Jenkins,Ms. Marilyn Morning, Mr. David Perez, Dr. Tarika Quinn, Ms. Jennifer Raynor, Ms. Nuris Binett, and Ms. Latasha Bodie.

Ms. Europe welcomed attendees and conducted a Mindful Moments breathing activity

The October 30, 2019 minutes were accepted with noted changes.
Great Things are Happening at D.M.W. COPE
1.School -wide novel-
• We are reading Monster by Walter Dean Myers
• Monster theme door decorating contest
• School-wide gallery walk/scavenger hunt
2. Energy Conservation Champion recipient
Big win for D.M.W. COPE Center! Ms. Binett shared our school was awarded a $19,000.06 check for our energy conservation efforts by the school board. A big THANK YOU to Ms. Binett, “Go Green” Liaison and the COPE Family!
3. PLC-
Ms. Europe shared that our PLC began on Tuesday, December 3. The PLC book titled, The Backstory of a New Reality by Dr. Shirley Plantin will be used. On November 8, Dr. Plantin shared with us the backstory on what inspired her to write her book The Backstory of a New Reality. She provided insight on some of the challenges she faces daily in her efforts to protect our most vulnerable students. Dr. Plantin also educated us on some disturbing trends and behaviors that are prevalent in today’s adolescents.
4. Ms. Bodie shared that on November 8 students attended a Human Trafficking Workshop in the cafeteria.
Discussed with the students were important information on Human Trafficking such as:
• How to protect themselves from becoming a victim
• Where they can get help
• See something, Say something
• Be alert, go with a group
New Business
Topic Testing Data:
Dr. Gayden shared the Performance Matters Data for Math and Science. Students took the Algebra Unit Topics 3 & 4 and nine students were tested. The COPE average score is 21.5%, and the district average score is 30.3%.

Topic Testing Data:
•The Geometry students took Geometry Topic 2 and Topic 3 Assessments.
The COPE average score is 34.5%, and the district average score is 41.9%.
• Biology Topic 2: The COPE average score is 37.3%, and the district average score is 60.8%.
• Biology SQSA1: The COPE average score is 41%, and the district average score is 57.9%.
Comprehensive Science Topic 3 Unit 2:
The Comprehensive Science student (8th grade) average score is 14.3%, and the district average score is 60.3%. Biology Pre-Test Unit 1 increased in scores.
Ms. Europe shared students did well on U.S. History Topic 2 Assessments.
SIP Phase II Quarter 2- Implementation School Culture (November 5 – December 20, 2019)
School Culture-Priority Actions for the Secondary Essential Practice
Ms. Europe shared the following information:
• Set schedule for volunteer monitoring of morning and afternoon bus area and cafeteria during lunch
• Continued Principal Mini Chats
• Staff and Employee Perfect Attendance Bulletin Board
SIP Phase II Quarter 2- Implementation ACADEMIC PROGRAMS (November 5 – December 20, 2019)
Academics- Priority Actions for the Secondary Essential Practice
Ms. Europe shared the following:
• Ongoing Common Planning/Working Lunch
• Use Technology to Enhance Instruction-More new computers have been requested from the District
• Sharing Curriculum Resource Best Practices
• Training in Performance Matters-Create Focus calendars

Comments:
Ms. Binett shared the following:
• 17 students took and/or passed the CTE Early Childhood Industry Certification Exam.
• 11 students opened a bank account with So. FL Educational Credit Union. Also, 3 students registered and opened a bank account for their babies.
• Ms. Binett thanked Pastor Perez, (Dade Partner) for sponsoring her upcoming field trip.
Dr. Gayden announced Ms. Binett supervised 2 middle and 2 high school D.M.W. COPE Center students at the FairChild Gardens Challenge.
Dr. Quinn inquired if there was any update regarding the school time change proposal?
Ms. Europe stated no further information has been received as of this EESAC meeting.
