Topics Covered

Approval of minutes: Mrs. Stroleny called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The minutes from February 18, 2020, were reviewed and approved.

SIP Review: The EESAC is the sole body responsible for the approval and implementation of the School Improvement Process (SIP). Mr. Rivers said the primary purpose of this meeting is to share and vote on the 2019-20 End-of-Year Continuous Improvement Reflection Assurances document. He shared the document through Zoom. He began by showing the Continuous Improvement Reflection Activities checklist and the EESAC requirements checklist. He then discussed the worksheets for Academic Programs and School Culture. He said we had to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Official business: The members voted unanimously to approve the end-of-year School Improvement Process (SIP). Mrs. Santamaria said she will need to be replaced on next year’s EESAC; all other parent members said they have students attending Carver next year and will continue on the EESAC.

Principal’s Message: Mrs. Stroleny said she wished we could meet in person, but that she is delighted that we are here on Zoom. She thanked Mr. Rivers for organizing this meeting. Mrs. Stroleny said Mr. Rivers has done an amazing job of gathering information from all stakeholders for the SIP. All parts of the educational process have continued. The most important thing we do is connecting with students and their families, ensuring that during this world pandemic that students have felt connected to their schools. Our counselors have continued with contact using Zoom meetings. We do have students who have experienced distress, and counselors are working with those students and their families. Daily 60 to 70 Carver students receive a phone call for support and resources. Mrs. Delavalette asked about the importance of communication. Mrs. Stroleny responded that communication has been very extensive and necessary. Mrs. Robledo commented that parents have appreciated the communication. Mrs. Stroleny thanked all for serving on EESAC this year and wished all a wonderful summer but advised to stay safe and sane. Our goal is to get through healthy and safe.

Open Forum: Dr. Garcia said the International Science and Engineering Fair is being held virtually as a showcase without judging and former Carver student Zoe Diederich is participating. Mr. Sands said Student Council elections begin today and will conclude tomorrow; voting is being done electronically. Mrs. Daniels said that no sports are taking place, but she hopes all are exercising and walking. Mrs. Robledo said 98 students are taking the Spanish AP exam on April 22.

Adjournment: Mrs. Robledo thanked all for attending the meeting and asked all to complete the survey sent out by the Superintendent. She adjourned the meeting at 10:36 a.m.
