The EESAC meeting was called to order at 9:01 a.m. by Ms. Odessa Europe, EESAC Chair.
Ms. Europe welcomed attendees and opened with a mindful moment to sit for a moment and think of something for which they were grateful.
Minutes
The March 11, 2020 minutes were tabled due to verification of Great Things are Happening information from Ms. Binett who requested an update of her information.
Great Things are Happening at D.M.W. COPE Center
1. Dr. Jenkins shared the June Issue of the Social Butterfly-News Journal will be the final edition of the school year. It will be a featured tribute to the Class of 2020.
2. Ms. Europe shared the following morale activities are conducted weekly since the quarantine: Mindful Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, & Fun Fridays/w students and staff.
3. Miami – Dade County Youth Fair Winners: Due to COVID-19 the Youth Fair was cancelled, however all the student entries submitted were judged prior to mandated closure. Ms. Binett- shared and displayed a PPT slide denoting the 4H/UF Winners: 7 out of 8 Students competed in Culinary Cook-Off ; Awarded Eleven (11) 1st Place, Nine (9) 2nd Place, Nine (9) 3rd Place and One (1) 4th Place. Dr. Jenkins submitted four (4) first-time entries of Creative Writing works (Poetry) and students were awarded Second Place.
Ms. Gilbert’s students earned 1st Place Recognition and record breaking purple ribbons (highest honor) in various categories promoting family literacy, including the following: Decorative Scrapbook Page, Mommy Read to Me!, Created letter size Aviation/Aerospace posters by conducting research & reference of a person in the field of Aviation or Aerospace, Designed 2D Craft Butterfly by using multi-color tissue paper, Created Child Development Illustration and Concept Books. First time Entries to the Youth Fair: Decorative Tie Dye Baby Tee shirts, Special/Holiday Occasion Ornaments (Clear bulb and popsicle sticks)
New Business
1. Distance Learning Data- Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Math
Ms. Robinson reported iReady and FAIR Data assessment.
Window opened May 11-May 18.
•i-Ready Data is based on monthly usage
•2 Students
•One went up one grade level
•One in progress (mid-way)
•FAIR-data only shows the students who have completed the assessment. All 10 students are pending completion.
Dr. Jenkins reported CommonLit Average Performance
Dr. Gayden reported Percentage of Students Working & Edgenuity Course Grades

Ms. Garcia reported Math progress of student weekly attempts.
2.Economic and Government
Ms. urope reported implementation and student results of the new purchased
Everfi Digital financial education program. Ms. Edouard recommended Ms. Europe conduct a PD utilizing this program as well.
3. Continuous Improvement Reflections (CIR Survey), Ms. Europe shared the results that 12 participants completed the survey. Six survey questions were addressed and discussed with attendees.
4. Opening of School-Parent Survey is available on the Parent Portal and answers are kept confidential.
5. Ms. Gilbert completed the Summer Reading Plan and emailed to faculty & staff. Teachers are to disseminate to students prior to end of school year.
6. Our school-site Trauma Informed Leader/Champion is Mrs. James-Bodie. This is a new MDCPS initiative.
7. Clinical Supervision-Ms. Europe shared that her and Ms. Quick are in the process of enrolling in the PDs.
Dr. Quinn currently serves as a Mentor to two new teachers on campus.
8. Senior Transition Ceremony-Class of 2020 will air via ZOOM on Wednesday, May 27 at 3:00pm; all faculty, staff, and community stakeholders are requested to attend.
9. Senior Celebration to be held on campus at bus drop off/pick up (social distance) May 28 10:00am-11:00am. Seniors will be able to drop off their mobile devices and pick up their cap & gown. Teachers and staff are invited to decorate cars and celebrate with our graduates. Information on the set up and guidelines will be sent electronically.
10. Retiree Celebration for Ms. Copeland and Ms. M. Johnson to air via ZOOM on Wednesday, May 20 at 11:00am. All faculty and staff are requested to attend.

4. Ms. Europe shared chart results for MYA and Topic Testing Data/Math, Language Arts, U.S. History

School Culture-Priority Actions for the Secondary Essential Practice: Attendance initiatives (staff and students), Ongoing Survey “Open Door policy” (staff), Volunteer monitoring of bus area
Academics- Priority Actions for the Secondary Essential Practice: Ongoing Common Planning, Sharing Out Curriculum Resource Best Practices, Professional Development
Ms. Edouard shared that she will have Data Chats with Mr. Montgomery at the District Office.
Community Partners/Student Voice
Mr. Redmon, Dade Partner shared his daughter owns a floral business which could become a potential fundraiser for us. Mrs. James- Bodie, Activities Director, will contact him for follow-up.
Dr. Jenkins thanked Pastor Perez for his donation of tee shirts to faculty & staff. Ms. Edouard sent a collage photo of employees wearing their tee shirts during a workout while quarantined at home.
Ms. Binett shared that Jeanette Arzate and Anayeli Cororna completed their Early Childhood Certification.
Ms. Edouard thanked Pastor Perez and his wife for supporting our school this year. The faculty, staff and students are appreciative for all that you do.
Dr. Gayden shared that Fairchild Tropical Gardens invited D.M.W. COPE Center to visit for the competition results and we were the only Alternative Education school invited to attend.
Dr. Quinn shared on behalf of Ms. Morning the Title I auditors will visit us and if you have any documents to submit asap.
Ms. Edouard shared the property and Internal Funds auditors will also be visiting our school in the near future.
Ms. Edouard shared for all to stay updated about the Superintendent’s announcements regarding COVID-19. All principals attended a recent meeting also for preparation of combating this virus while we are at school.
