Principal updates:
Last meeting, we were all online.
About 268 students were physical we now have about 130 that are physical because of the recent COVID-19 case in the school.
We had a connectivity issue at the school, repairs have been made and the issue seems to have been resolved.
At the last meeting Ms. Albert asked if the survey would be given again. Although not surveyed, students are being accommodated. Oct. 23 is the last day to make changes according to the Region.
The grading period is about to end, some grades have been located since some students schedules have been changed.
We had a COVID- 19 case at the school that affected several classes because once the student enters a classroom the students in those classes must be quarantined. The total students quarantined were 127 Also, 13 teachers, 2 substitutes our counselor and success coach. The district has sent curriculum support specialist to assist. Those students are quarantined for 14 days and they will be back Nov. 2.
In the cafeteria they are 6 feet or more apart, because they are eating. It has been a challenge to keep them separated in the hallway even with the arrow markings, the markings are 6 feet apart. They are to maintain an arrow distance apart.
Most of the I-Ready diagnostic test have been done. These tests are important because it gives us a baseline look at to know the student’s needs. We did all we could to get as many students to complete the test.

School Improvement Plan
We are headed to Phase III of the SIP, we analyze the results of the I-Ready test. We are in the process of planning intervention.
We try to brainstorm and borrow ideas to look at instruction from a different perspective, we develop strategies where we can better serve our students. This meeting will be in the next week or two.

IPEGS, is an evaluation system where they evaluate the teacher on different things that they see in the class, as far as planning, engagement, delivery etc. to make sure that students are receiving the best education possible.

We received 30 laptops today. I will be distributing the laptops tomorrow.

Title I
Ms. Martin oversees Title I and Ms. Perez will be assisting her since she is new. Our Title I meeting is forthcoming.
At that meeting we will be discussing a plan to engage and attract parents more. They can be a bigger part of their child’s education by helping and offering assistance.

Budget for Title 1: in past years we have purchased 3 teachers with the money. I have purchased 9 extra period supplements. 35 were purchased all together. Those 9 for title 1 are purchased for a subject area. There is some money left over for an hourly interventionist. Title 1 money can only be used to supplement.
Every night the custodians spray a germicide mist that kills 99.9% of any germs, viruses. This is sprayed all over the school, classrooms, cafeteria, etc.

Student Updates:
Jordan Dozier, I was one of the students that was exposed to the student that tested positive, I am currently quarantined at home. Coming back to school felt normal, I am getting used to it.

Ms. Cannon- what constitutes the closure of a school, some other schools like MAST Academy were closed.

Mr. Crespo- the District made the decision to keep the school open. I believe they made this choice because they are thinking of the parents and the work situation that they may have that they need to keep their kids at school.
Ms. Albert, I have received messages and emails from parents that they had to be in quarantine and do their class online. The student in a physical class that do not need to be quarantined are being set up in a lab or in class with a substitute. That way they can take the class on the laptop while they are doing the online class with the quarantined teacher.
All we can do is the best we can.
If a student does not have a device and is waiting for one, I have provided a personal keyboard and mouse with their name on it. That way they can use the computer in the media center. The equipment is kept in a location for the student to use and no one else can touch.

Mr. Ahmed- I have noticed that the kids that have headphones have been able to participate without any issues.

What is the protocol if a student is having a technical issue and they can’t get in?
Mr. Crespo, if the parent confirms that the student could not attend due to difficulties, they will be at least marked as an excused absence or an excused tardy.
Ms. Martin started a new Instagram account. Yearbook also created an Instagram page, CCMS_the eye_ Yearbook there will also be a physical yearbook this year. School Instagram account CCMS_hurricanes

Planning Pink out day for Breast Cancer Awareness, for next Friday Oct. 30. The students can wear pink.

Stakeholders training will be available via zoom. Ms. Miyar will send the link if interested.

We would like to transfer $2,999 to the account for student incentives. Mr. Crespo would like to from a committee of teachers to brainstorm incentive ideas for the students.
