School Improvement Plan:
The SIP is divided into different implementation windows.
Aug 31- Oct 16 and Oct-Nov is the 2nd half.
When reviewing what we were going to do, we didn’t know many things concerning the school year.
We did include strategies that target the virtual and mostly physical kids.
Last week the SIP writing team got together to see what needs to be modified. Many of the strategies are not realistic because we don’t have many kids here. We have about 220 kids a day and that is not enough to have a school wide impact.
We are still focusing on Math, Science, and Language Arts, but we have made some changes.
Math being the most critical, historically it has needed an extra push. Because this year our scheduling is so different from ever before, intensive math is something we were not able to implement this year. That will be removed from the SIP.
We were planning to open 1.5 hours before school for I-ready completion, that needs to be changed because we need to follow the COVID guidelines.
Tutoring is not available district wide.
Plans with Math are, daily bell ringer, spiraling back on lessons for reinforcement, and doing google.doc data chats
Virtually, progress monitoring mini assessments. The intention is to be able to provide them with what they need in order to improve academically.
Biweekly benchmark challenge for students to participate in and they will receive extra credit.
Science-
Students that scored a level 2 in ELA FSA, will receive a research elective. Students with 3, 4, 5 will be in Biology. Mr. Ubaldo Rodriguez is teaching biology.
In house camps and Saturday school is not available right now.
Pull out of students is also on hold.
We are doing an amazing job with knowing where every child is at every minute of the day. Contact tracing is being done.
Limiting the walking around the building. Once we are in phase 3 we will resume with pull out
Language Arts- CSS are acting as substitute teachers right now. They are not physically coming into the building, however they are servicing the school virtually, data chats are virtual, intensive reading for level 1 or 2.
We are not doing intensive reading enrichment- because students did not test last year.
Data from API we will review deficiencies and where we need help.
For physical and MSO students they will be doing DI for levels 1 and 2.
The department will be targeting fiction and nonfiction text
Data chats, googl.doc data chats.
This implementation plan is good until Dec 18. The changes will be made and provided to EESAC.
After Dec 18 we have the holidays and next year we will revisit the SIP depending on where we are.
Next EESAC meeting Nov 17,2020
Meeting adjourned
