Principal’s Message: Mrs. Stroleny began by saying we have quite a few things to celebrate since our last meeting. Give Miami Day in November was a big success and funds will be turned into things to help our students and faculty. Mrs. Rivera was selected Assistant Principal of the Year for the Coral Gables feeder pattern. Mrs. Jourdaa is one of five Central Region finalists for Teacher of the Year; the school visit and interview took place on Dec. 8. On Dec. 8, guest speaker Mitchell Kaplan, independent bookstore owner and film director, visited with Carver students via Zoom; the event was organized by Mrs. Fletcher. On Dec. 11, Mrs. Arago, PTSA president, arranged for the donation of a copier from a Coral Gables business. On Dec. 16, we will have our STEAM visit from the district. The PTSA has arranged for a Grab-and-Go Luncheon for teachers on Dec. 17. Dec. 18 is the last day before winter recess. We return on Jan. 4. With all the challenges we have faced, these are amazing highlights. Mrs. Stroleny concluded by saying that as the calendar year ends, she wishes all members health and happiness for a new year and that hopefully 2021 will be a much better year.
Open Forum: Mrs. Vinat said that UTD is conducting a meeting today about retirement incentives. She said it is sad to see employees go, but people must consider what is right for themselves. Mrs. Ridoux discussed the success of Give Miami Day as the PTSA raised $10,200, mostly for technology funding. Mr. Sands said that is an outstanding accomplishment and commended the PTSA for a superb job.
Adjournment: Mr. Sands adjourned the meeting at 8:19 a.m.
