Call to Order
The EESAC meeting was called to order at 8:31 a.m. by Dr. Argentina Quick, EESAC Chair.
In Attendance: Ms. Nuris Binett, Ms. Latasha James-Bodie, Ms. Natalia Coletti, Ms. Tammy S. Edouard, Ms. Odessa Europe, Dr. Angela Gayden, Ms. Constance Gilbert, Dr. Ruby Jenkins, Ms. Marville Marcelin (Student Rep.), Ms. Monace Mayweather, Ms. Marilyn Morning, Dr. Sharon B. Pottinger, Dr. Argentina Quick, Dr. Tarika Quinn, Ms. Jennifer Raynor, Mr. Darryl Redmon, and Ms. Mildreca Robinson.
Welcome/Mindful Moments/Introductions
Dr. Quick welcomed meeting attendees. Ms. Gilbert conducted member roll call for attendance.
Minutes
Ms. Morning made a motion to accept March 9, 2021 minutes with noted changes and seconded by Dr. Pottinger. Motion passed: consensus.
Administrative Updates:
Ms. Edouard shared out the following:
District Stakeholder Survey- encouraged to complete online under Miami-Dade County Public Schools portal
School Climate Survey
School Education Plan
Voting Outcomes-On March 18, 2021 Faculty and staff voted and approved the following items to remain the same as last year: SIP Waiver-No changes, Alternative Supplement Model-No changes, and Block Scheduling-No Changes.
Also during this meeting, faculty and staff present voted and approved a request for school time change. Padlet Voting Results: 8:00am – 3:00pm=33 votes-yes and 8:30am – 3:30pm= 4 votes yes. On March 19, 2021, EESAC members present voted by consensus and approved the same items shared out on March 18, 2021 in the faculty meeting.
Data Review
Dr. Jenkins gave an overview of the ELA data.
Dr. Gayden gave an overview of the Math & Science data.

CTE
Dr. Quick shared out:
Design Services- Students made garments including handmade patterns
Ms. Edouard shared out:
Culinary Arts- Ms. Luisa Santos, School Board member toured our school and visited Ms. Binett’s class and got to see them making tacos. The MSO students were online viewing the same lesson from their computers at home as well.
Ms. Binett gave an overview of CTE students (classes) involvement and shared out students participated in the Fairchild Gardens competition and one of our MSO students won for the most graphics.
Dream in Green grant awarded to grow your own food.
Aspen Challenge
Dr. Jenkins gave an overview of the Aspen Challenge Team competition and shared out the Aspen Team Padlet platform is available for viewing. She also shared that the coaches are Ms. Gilbert and herself and The Bezo Foundation is the funding source for the Aspen Challenge-Miami. Ms. Gilbert added the team will have a checkpoint session today with the Aspen Coordinator to present their elevator pitches. EESAC student representative, Marville Marcelin, serves on the DMW COPE Aspen Team.
Title I
Ms. Morning shared out information about the Neighborhood Resource Center for parents. Flyers are available and faculty is encouraged to distribute the flyer to students and parents. Students received the flyer to take home to share with their parent/guardian. Parents can participate virtually for webinars as well.
Budget- Funding Requests
Ms. Robinson shared out she will submit a budget proposal on behalf of Ms. Garcia, school spirit leader to offset her expenses for various school-wide activities.
Community Partners/Student Voice
Marville Marcelin asked stakeholders to view, follow and leave a comment on Instagram for the DMW COPE Aspen Team at @you.matter.miami
Ms. Edouard recognized Ms. Coletti and her organization for being instrumental in providing services to our school and thanked her for their support.
Dr. Quick called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Dr. Jenkins made a motion to adjourn and seconded by Ms. Morning. Result: consensus Meeting adjourned at 9:16 a.m.
