SIP Updates

Ms. Villazon
The end of year SIP is a reflection, I asked all the department chairs to contribute their feedback. The feedback was that there were many things that they wanted to do but couldn’t because of the situation with the pandemic.
We only have 35% of the students at school physically, we had some tutoring but were not able to target as many students as we wanted to. The visibility and interaction with students and even with staff were not what we wanted. We were only able to be no more than 15 minutes with students because of COVID. On a positive note it gives us goals for next year that will be definitely attainable. Next year will be a challenge.

This summer during Synergy we will meet again and add goals to the SIP.
I can’t wait to see the interaction between the students and teachers. Next year we will be visiting the classrooms more than ever.

Ms. Miyar
Welcome our new teacher member in lieu of Ms. Lopez Guerra, welcome Ms. Padron to EESAC. Every 3 years we visit and elect new members. She is elected teacher member as of 5/26/2021 at the faculty meeting for EESAC.
Motion to approve all the updates of phase 5 of the SIP. Motion to approve the SIP end of year updates. Ms. Brooks makes a motion and Dr. Brinas seconds the motion. Motion passes. EESAC approves phase 5 if the SIP, also approved by the faculty on 5/26/21.

Mr. Crespo
We received thermometers from Miami Dade County. Not all students were on the list to pick up the thermometers. Ms. Perez is handling the distribution. The district is asking that we pick up the devices that we loaned to the students. The district can tell if the device is logging in or not. We have reached about 50-60 homes. Most of the reason is that they have a personal computer. We have a few that we have received back.
On the last week of school, we will be collecting those devices. June 7-9 and then we have another team that will be collecting it in a drive through fashion. I expect to still be collecting devices after the 9th.
We are in the process of testing, our goal is about 90% of the students tested, we are very close to 80%. We have another 5 more days of testing. It is not easy to get those MSO students to get here to test.
What happens if we don’t reach 90%, we most probably won’t use it for a school grade but we do need those students to test to know what their academic level is and be able to provide intervention or remediation for next year.
Yesterday we had the nicest event we have seen in a long time. We had a retirement celebration in the cafetorium. Wish we could’ve invited more people, we were limited to the amount of people we can have. Ms. Covone has been here since day 1 of the opening of Country Club
FBLA- won state, they got 1st place for web design they will be going to nationals sometime in July. We wish them the best. In addition to that we also had other events digital citizenship in 2nd place.
We have some events for our 8th graders. The 8th grade dinner is June 2nd in the evening. A limited group of students participating in the cafetorium. June 10 we will be having a drive by graduation. From 10am -12pm.
I- ready challenge. We are going to have a GEMZ event, the group of girls that are mentored by Ms. Stephen and Ms. McGraw.
Early release, the last 3 days of school students will be dismissed at 2:40pm and they can’t bring backpacks

Looking forward to some sense of normalcy.
Summer school this year as 3 versions. We will be hosting Lawton Chiles students also. We will be hosting summer 305 to recover 2 credits from 9:15 through 3 pm. We will be hosting start smart for rising 5,6 and 7th graders, mostly stem oriented. Finally, the federation of families sponsored from the children’s trust will have a field trip every Friday. You have to sign up with a link on the website.

Yearbooks
Ms. Albert- we had to cancel the yearbook order, we did not have enough orders.
Title 1 updates- plans are to get 2 teachers and supplements and some money in supplies. I set aside some money for interventionist for mathematics that has been my goal for a while.
We have some teacher positions for ESOL.
Enrollment is looking ok, we are futured at 715 students. I expect for to be at around the same enrollment as last year.
We ordered some computers, but we have not received the monitors. It would be nice to receive them before the next school year starts.
Ms. Albert-will the laptops being returned be available to have in the classroom next year. In language arts the students will have carts.

Student updates
Nevian is good
Ms. Brooks- Regarding all the summer programs are these being done in person? Are the mask mandates in place? The middle school course recovery will be online and in person the start smart teen camp will be in person. Federation of families will be in person. The mask mandates will be inside the building and outside it is optional.

For summer MSO students, they want us to collect devices and then reissue them for summer.

June 28- July 30th 9:15-3pm.

Assurances checklist.

Phase 5 end of year SIP will be uploaded again.

August 23 is the first day of school next year.
