Call to Order
The EESAC meeting was called to order at 8:18 a.m. by Dr. Argentina Quick, EESAC Chair.

Edouard, Ms. Odessa Europe, Ms. Constance Gilbert, Dr. Ruby Jenkins, Ms. Monace Mayweather, Mrs. Marilyn Morning, Pastor David Perez, Community Partner (Zoom), Dr. Sharon B. Pottinger, Dr. Argentina Quick, and Mrs. Jennifer Raynor.
Welcome/Mindful Moments/Introductions
Dr. Quick welcomed meeting attendees and conducted Mindful Moment: Breathing exercise. Ms. Gilbert conducted member roll call.
Minutes
Dr. Sharon Pottinger made a motion to accept the May 19, 2021 minutes with no changes and it was seconded by Mrs. Morning. Motion passed by consensus.
New Mission and Vision Statement
Dr. Quick displayed and read new Mission and Vision Statements which were created during the development of the SIP.
Dr. Quick shared out that all EESAC fund request(s) should be submitted prior to December 2021.
Mrs. Edouard gave an overview of the process to submit request for EESAC funds and suggested funding request should be made at the EESAC September through November meetings in order to spend the funds in a timely manner.
Title 1/Parent & Family Engagement Plan (PFEP)
Mrs. Morning reviewed and discussed key components of the Parent & Family Engagement Plan (PFEP) with the body. She gave an overview of our Parent Resource room which has a variety of documents and resources, including the SIP and PFEP for parents use and review. Mrs. Edouard stated the Title 1 funds are $443.00 for school use and the PFEP funds are $142.00 which is 1% of the budget. These PFEP funds must be used on parent resources.
2021-2022 School Improvement Process-Phase 1 Focus
The SIP was reviewed with faculty and staff prior to the meeting. Dr. Jenkins read key components of our School Improvement Plan (Phase 1) including the following:
Leadership
Beginning with the Leadership Team, more focus needs to be placed on systemic practices that lead to improved student outcomes. Collaboration between the principal and teachers will assist in providing more opportunities for professionals to share their leadership skills and knowledge in a manner that supports the vision and the mission of the school. Throughout this process, the Leadership team will create ownership and bring creative and innovative solutions to the forefront.
Culture and Environment
Social and emotional issues have impacted student academic performance. Therefore, it is necessary to provide skills necessary to manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, and make responsible decisions.
SIP-Phase 1 and Vote
Mrs. Edouard gave an overview of the SIP Region review process. DMW COPE Center received a school rating of Maintained for the 2020-2021 school year. Mrs. Edouard stated teachers are to be commended for their efforts and hard work teaching and reaching students through dual-modality and all the constraints of the pandemic. Our goal is to attain a commendable rating this year with our targets to reach Learning Gains of 70% or better in Reading and Math. Mrs. Morning made a motion to accept the SIP Phase 1 for 2021-2022 and it was seconded by Dr. Pottinger. Passed by consensus.
New Business for the 2021-2022 school year
Ms. Edouard gave an overview of the following:
• School Hours- 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Faculty Meeting Hours- 3:10 p.m. -4:10 p.m.
• EESAC Meeting time will be changed to after school to encourage all
stakeholders to attend
• COVID-19 Procedures-Supplies distributed to teachers, sanitizing
continues throughout the building, social distancing in place on our
campus.
• Virtual Title 1 Annual meeting on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 5:00
p.m. and Open House begins at 6:00 p.m.
• The After-school program, T.A.L.E.N.T.S., a new district initiative. The
service will be offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with busing, snacks,
and an enrichment component to possibly include participation from a
community partner. The hours are scheduled from 3:05 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Community Partners/Student Voice
Ms. Marville Marcelin, student representative, wrote a letter to EESAC members, which was read by Ms. Europe. The concerns are delay of buses for pick up and drop off. She stated an alternative should be in place when bus delays occur and suggested water and snacks be available in the cafeteria.
Mrs. Edouard stated that busing has been an issue across the district due to a shortage of bus drivers. Mrs. Edouard stated she provided snacks, water, and baby formula to the students and their babies on August 27, 2021, the one day when a bus was later than usual to pick up students. Mrs. Edouard stated she has been working with the district and the bus compound to alleviate these issues of late arrival and pick up.
Ms. Binett shared out the Dream in Green team is working in conjunction with Dr. Gayden and the Fairchild Challenge team.
