School Improvement Process (SIP)
Publishing the 2021-2011 School Improvement Plan (SIP)
The main focus areas of the SIP include school-wide attendance, collaborative planning, and differentiated instruction. Many students didn’t come to school physically and virtually last school year, which impacted student learning. Attendance this year is sitting between 92-94% because kids are back to school physically. -Mr. Lazo
We must mitigate learning loss and through strategic planning during collaborative planning, we are building capacity in teachers and pilling resources for DI to close learning gaps. During DI, teachers work with students at their level. -Mr. Lazo
Incentives: As a principal, I feel students and teachers should be incentivized. Students are being incentivized fore monthly core values. They receive an ice cream party for perfect attendance and get treats for meeting their iReady usage and passing rates. Teachers are also getting incentivized for attendance and for motivating their students to meet iReady/ Waterford minutes.
All those in favor to keep these four pillars as our main focus areas of the SIP say I- Ms. Quintero

RtI/ Leadership Team Reviews/ Updates
This year we are starting the process in October. We have some cases pending from last year, so that is where we will start. There have been 6 students proposed by teachers this year and we have staffed 4 students. -Dr. Galceran
Open Forum/ Discussions
School Operations: We have received additional funds to hire an additional part-time custodian (9-1pm) on a daily basis. Hopefully they extend the funds to keep her until 5pm. We have 3 custodians in the morning and 3 in the evening to clean and ensure the building is sanitized. Anytime a teacher needs PPE, they simply have to ask, and they shall receive. We have had some technical issues in the building that is being currently addressed. – Mr. Lazo
Will we be receiving more laptops? -Ms. Grisales
We have additional laptops in the building, and I have spoken to Ms. Leon and the secretary to provide devices needed. That is being addressed. – Mr. Lazo

Curriculum
We received our ELA intervention materials, however not all at once. We’ve received them in shipments and have been passing them out to teachers and students for learning success. - Mr. Lazo
We are also receiving promethean boards, but they are also backed up in shipment. As soon as we get them, they teacher who does not have one, will receive it as soon as we get it. -Mr. Lazo
Budget Reviews/ Updates
I just came back from Budget, and I am happy to announce that we are not losing any teachers. FTE is currently 437 including VPK. We gained an addition teacher assignment, which will be placed in kindergarten due to their high numbers. - Mr. Lazo

Title I
We are using Title I funds to fund our math and reading coach as well as our CIS, Ms. Rosario. I will use the rest of the funds for additional devices and additional student resources. We currently have 88% of free and reduced lunch but we should be at 95%. We will be sending out letters to parents to apply. Also, the PFEP will be discussed during the next meeting. - Mr. Lazo
Are parents not applying because they are getting government assistance? -Ms. Welch
Every year parents must apply, and they seem not to because everything is free, including lunch. -Ms. Rosario

New Business
We are incredibly proud that we were awarded the 5000 Role Models program, which was dormant for many years. This is a process that Ms. Welch will oversee and hopefully we can start it up in October. Thank you, Ms. Welch, I think we will make fantastic things happen! – Mr. Lazo
