Meeting called to order at 4:23 PM on 09/21/21.
Membership Updates:
• Ms. Perez-Castillo has been elected in lieu of Ms. Padron.
• Ms. Franco has been elected in lieu of Ms. Perez.
• Mr. Terrance Sweeting joins the EESAC as a parent, replacing Ms. Rita Dozier.
• Mr. Kyle Sweeting joins EESAC as a student, replacing Jordyn Dozier.
• Ms. Rivas and Mr. Eddy Sedeno have resigned as community business partners.
Minutes Review:
• Ms. Stacy Brooks motions to approve minutes with corrections.
• Ms. Albert seconds motion to approve.
• Minutes from May 2021 are approved at 4:39 PM.
Principal Updates (Mr. Crespo):
• State assessment results from last year show that students did not do well. The
online setting was not effective for the learning environment.
• Quarantines also had a negative impact on student achievement and standardized
assessments.
• This years School Improvement Plan was based on the scores from two years ago
in 2019.
• PTSA will be resume this school year.
• Parent involvement will be essential to helping students
• Parents, teachers, and students are encouraged to join the PTSA.
• Incentive committee was created last year to come up with rewards for programs
like i-Ready and attendance.
• We had one in-person Open House and one online Open House.
• There is a section on the school web-site that says "Meet Your Teachers," where
parents can view videos and “meet” their teachers.
• Hispanic Heritage Month is coming up.
• Dress down day will be on this Friday 09/25/21.
• Morning announcements are made every day.
• Ms. Picado took over for Ms. Luesa Estrada as the computer teacher and she has
made a YouTube channel, called Country Club Middle.
• This year, the quarantine procedures are different. Only the students around
the Covid positive student will be quarantined instead of quarantining the
entire class.
• The FSA will be replaced with the BEST Standards in the following school year.
SIP Updates:
• Scores dropped in 2021 due to the pandemic and online learning.
• The SIP this year is largely based on the 2019 data.
• Math is the area of focus for the SIP this year.
• The school has not been able to make improvements since math was first
identified as the area of focus due to the pandemic starting that year.
• Science scores also declined in 2021.
• New standards will be implemented in the following school year, which will
be different than current FSA standards.
• Differentiated instruction based on the data will be used to target students
that need interventions or remediations.
• Knowre Math was purchased as a supplement in the classroom.
• i-Ready will continue to be used in the classroom as well.
• Instructional walk-throughs will be conducted based on the feedback
teachers provided on the school climate survey.
• A math coach will be hired to analyze at the data and provide additional
supports and interventions.
• The district has provided the math coach position based on the data from the
2021 and 2019 assessments.
• The math coach will be pulling students out of elective classes to provide
supports.
• Ms. Albert motions to approve the SIP.
• Mr. Sweeting seconds the motion to approve the SIP.
• The SIP is unanimously approved by EESAC at 5:22 PM.
Ms. Albert:
• Picture Day was on 09/20/21.
• We only had one day for pictures because we do not generate enough money from
parents purchasing picture packets.
• We will be having a Homecoming Dance on 10/28/21.
• Thinking about doing a Haunted House.
• The United Way goal was not met last year; it is difficult to meet it since it
is two dollars per student.
• BEST Standards have already been rolled out in Language Arts.
Title 1 Updates:
• 83% of students qualify for Title 1.
• Two teachers were purchased from Title 1 funding.
• 9 extra period supplements were purchased.
• A community liaison (Ms. Martin) is also funded through Title 1.
• Knowre Math and Robots were also purchased using Title 1 funding.
• Parent Academy is via Zoom this year due to the pandemic.
• Parents are invited to attend a district-wide meeting for parents (DAC).
