Verified EESAC Meeting Minutes

Approval of minutes: Mr. Sands called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m. The minutes from March 15, 2022, were reviewed and approved.

SIP Review: The EESAC is the sole body responsible for the approval and implementation of the School Improvement Process (SIP). Mr. Rivers said our final meeting is May 31; it may be moved up depending on when SIP information is due. Mr. Rivers presented information regarding the 2021-2022 End-Of-Year SIP Review. The school leadership team and the staff will review our intended outcomes, as well as strengths and opportunities for improvement regarding our action steps. The information will be used to make predictions for our Instructional Practices and our School Culture & Environment. State testing begins May 2 with FSA reading. Mr. Rivers also provided information on the EESAC Composition Waiver Request. The EESAC is charged with reviewing its current composition and making adjustments (waiver request) if necessary. The current composition is as follows:

EESAC voting for “no change” to the current composition for the 2022-2023 school year. The End Of Year (EOY) Assurances will be discussed at the next meeting. Student Council elections were last week; new EESAC representatives were elected. Mr. Sands plan to have the newly elected student representatives present at the next EESAC meeting. Some parent members are leaving after this school year because their children are in eighth-grade and the PTSA will need to address vacancies.

Principal’s Message: Mrs. Artime is attending the Magnet School of America National Conference this week. Mr. Rivers said the construction is delayed because some materials have not arrived on time. Work will continue over the summer.

Open Forum: Dr. Garcia said there is a seventh-grade science fair night at 5:30 on Wednesday in the new cafeteria. Our students placed third in the VEX at the Youth Fair. We had three students go to the state science fair; one student was involved in Broadcom, the highest level possible for middle school. We have an ex-Carver student going to the national science fair. The STEAM-designation team met to complete required paperwork. Mrs. Artime and the entire STEAM team have been proactive, especially in community partnerships. Mr. Sands said Student Council elections took place last week and we brought back the campaign speeches. Students learned the alma mater. Mr. Sands said he feels good with what is happening here at Carver and that our kids are fully prepared for the EOCs.
