Meeting Start:

· Meeting called to order at 4:15 PM.

Minutes Review:

· Mr. Sweeting motions to approve minutes with corrections.

Principal Updates:

· The Robotics Team went to the Youth Fair and won first place. Mr. Rodriguez is the teacher and coach for that program.
· Seven students participated in the Miami-Dade Sea Stars during the Summer and will continue in the Fall.
· One of our students won first place for the track competition in the district.
· We one first place in the annual Innovate competition, which is the annual cooking competition.
· The boys basketball team went to the region finals.
· We are trying to restart the PTSA in order to engage the parents and create more activities for students.
· We have a new Twitter and Instagram: @ccmshurricanes.

Title 1 Updates:

· Title 1 funds are used to purchase supplies, teachers, etc.
· Title 1 funds have been used to pay two teachers, twelve extra period supplements, and the Community Involvement Specialist (Ms. Martin).
· Title 1 funds were used to purchase robots for the robotics program and calculators for the math classes.
· The Parent and Family Engagement Plan is the plan proposed by the district to encourage parent engagement.
· There will be a parent workshop next week on 09/28/22, for Spanish-speaking parents to show them how to use the parent portal.
· Parent Academy suggestions: Schoology and OSP.

SIP Updates:

· ELA and Math trend scores have increased over the years.
· Science needs some improvement.
· Civics had the best performance scores overall.
· The greatest area of need is mathematics, which is the main focus of the School Improvement Plan.
· The state has introduced new state assessments, called the FAST Assessments, based on the BEST Standards.
· The main way we are going to improve our math scores is through differentiation, this will allow us to reach the variety of students in our school population.
· We have also created a math intensive class to provide extra support for students who scored a level 1 or 2 in the Math FSA last year.
· We are creating a variety of incentives and activities to encourage student participation.

Teacher Updates:

· Dr. Miyar: Picture day is tomorrow.
· Ms. Picado: Homecoming will be next month.

Student Updates:

· Connor Picado: there were a lot of stickers for the Start Hello Week.

Parent Updates:

· Mr. Sweeting would to update the school website and make it more user-friendly.

New Business:

· Connor Picado motions to approve the new members and the new roster.
• Mr. Sweeting seconds the motion to approve the new members.
· Ms. Mejias motions to approve the SIP.
• Mr. Sweeting seconds the motion to approve the SIP.
· Ms. Mejias motions to transfer 2,999.00 to the Principal.
• Mr. Sweeting seconds the motion to transfer 2,999.00 to the Principal.
· Ms. Albert motions to approve the Parent and Family Engagement Plan.
• Ms. Franco seconds the motion to approve the Parent and Family Engagement Plan.


Community Updates:

· Ms. Espinosa: today was the ribbon cutting ceremony for a variety different labs such as the robotics and the super computer lab.
