Meeting began at 8:05 am
Overview
• Construction of the bathrooms will be finished at the end of September
o tweaking classrooms that have problems such as leaks and AC
• Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (F.A.S.T.) testing for sixth grade ELA starts today
o The F.A.S.T is new and we may have to improve schedule and way of doing the testing
o We will keep testing through regular schedule: minimize disruptions to instructional day
o Plans to organize testing sessions that fit into the regular schedule
o The F.A.S.T. will be administered in September (Progress Monitoring 1), January (Progress Monitoring 2, and May (Progress Monitoring 3)
• Accomplishments
o Successful open house
 Ordered additional projectors based on parent observations
o Teams such as cross-country volleyball and soccer recently started
o A student named Sophia Gonzalez won the district Hispanic art prize she was in the class with Miss Sellem
o New Dean of Students
o Last year the school was designated of Gold Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) school
o Last year there were great community involvement organization relationships, that led to advanced S.T.E.A.M. designation
• Last year the parents gave a large donation
o 12 new projectors will come to teachers in need
o Got new tables for art
o Got technology to meet teachers needs
o Updating Media Center
 Plans to put up new furniture and re-design and refurbish media center
• Mr. Callaway is Chess Club sponsor first meeting will be on Friday
• The Orange Bowl Leadership Academy (O.B.L.A.) will start soon but we are looking for one more teacher/sponsor. The club is about leadership and it should start in October
• On October 12 the magnet school tours will begin
• The seventh-grade field trip to Kitty Hawk about the Wright brothers will take place in September 22nd
• Spanish Attache to visit Carver on the 21st
• On 23 September the progress reports will come out. Most parents will receive it virtually
• There is an upcoming teacher planning day (September 26)
• On October 11, 12, and 13, the scoliosis and hearing screening will occur (6th grade)
• Career Day will take place in May
• November 8 is voting/election day. There is a school board referendum to approve ad valorem levy for teachers, instructional personnel, student safety, and security on the ballot.
• The book fair will be in place in the media center
Concerns
• Many parents are asking in chat about what transgender students would do if they felt uncomfortable in the bathrooms
• Some transgender students had concerns regarding the restrooms. There are gender neutral restrooms in the attendance office.
o Miss Valdes, Miss Castillo and Miss Fremson in and Miss Rente are the four mental health professionals that will assist all students
• Uniform Policy will be enforced
• The Islands of Adventure field trip for eighth graders is on December 2 and the day after is the entrance exam for private high school
• Outdoor classroom needs refurbishing
• Ways to have students communicate to teachers better about forming clubs
• New Parent EESAC Reps needed
o The roster for parent representatives must be approved by September 30
o parents plan to elect before September 28
o parents in the position previous year may be renewed

Solutions
• Priority is safety of the students followed by teaching and learning
o Plan to change the day of Islands of Adventure field trip
• The district policy states that bathrooms are to be used by your preferred gender.
o The priority at Carver continues to be safety and comfort of all students
o Private bathroom could possibly be used for the comfort of any student
o Parents and/or students could on a one-to-one conversation with administration request accommodating any students if they feel uncomfortable with bathroom use
VOTE
• Today we voted on moving $2999 (max) from $5000 EESAC budget to the principal/internal funds
o This will make using with the money easier
Budget
• Budget conference coming up
• Treasurer from another school is assisting

Next Meeting
• Must continue to discuss budget
• Continue to meet in Room 1 until the media center is in better shape for meetings
• Next meeting we will review Dr. Garcia‘s and Miss Vinat’s proposals
• Miss Vinat’s proposal asks for $500 for student rewards for contests
• Caribbean heritage Day will be incorporated possibly in May
• Discuss making a day to have native foods clothes and more occurring on some kind of international day at the school
• More ideas about what to use the money for
• Discuss proposal of what is needed for the out door classroom
• Plans to verify the roster at next meeting
