The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. The minutes from March 30, 2005 were read and approved with changes.
OLD BUSINESS: Mrs. King contacted Labor Relations regarding requesting a waiver for paraprofessional evaluations.
The waiver will be sent out.
Mrs. King passed out copies of the rationale for the waiver.
NEW BUSINESS:
Ms. Russell will get with Ms. Loring to find items for the Stork’s Nest. Everyone was in agreement that points will go to Stork’s Nest for students to earn items.
Ms. Gilbert explained the Accelerated Reader process.
Ms. Pratt says every student should have an AR book at all times.
Ms. Clarington spoke about the Career Interdisciplinary Plan. She said we need more participation by content area teachers next year.
Ms. Pratt said teachers should include more presenting in class to help their students become better public speakers.
Ms. Clarington said we should start earlier with the survey to students for which careers they want to see at the career fair. Having a career showcase with the career fair is ideal.
This is a schoolwide project monitored by team leaders.
Ms. Allen would like to have the caregivers and teachers trade jobs for a day.
The question was asked whether we will continue our quest for the Sterling Challenge. Mrs. King said she didn’t think we could continue preparing for the Sterling and still be able to do other requirements mandated by the Superintendent at this time. She informed us there will be a Sterling feedback meeting on April 22, 2005.
The subject was brought up about Open House next school year. Mrs. King suggested we have two Open House events – one for the classroom teachers and one for the Nursery.
Ms. Clarington suggested the Nursery Open House be held at the beginning of the school year.
Mrs. King said we should ask the staff when they want to have both Open Houses.
Mr. Fair said he would see if he could get Christopher Reid (Kid of Kid and Play) to come to one of the Open Houses.
The next EESAC meeting will be held May 11, 2005 at 4:00 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
