 Welcome
Ms. Artime welcomed everyone to this morning’s meeting and provided an update on the school’s branding initiative. There are several areas throughout the school that have been wrapped with the school’s logo and wording identifying the space (main office, attendance office, cafeteria, auditorium). Additional wrapping / branding is expected.

 

 Approval of previous minutes
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

 

 School Improvement Process (monitoring, implementation, review, etc.)
Mr. Rivers provided an update on the School Improvement Process (SIP), including an update on the 2022-2023 EESAC Waivers. The current EESAC waivers (Waiver To Labor Contract Provisions and Alternative Supplement Model Waiver (ASM), as well as the Block Schedule. The staff voted for “no changes” to the current EESAC waivers. EESAC agreed to maintain the current waivers – “no changes.” Staff will vote on the waivers at the next faculty meeting (02-16-23).

 Old/New business
We will host the annual Carver Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, February 24th, 2 p.m., in the auditorium. Ms. Leona Cooper Baker will be introduced as this year’s Hall of Fame inductee.
Mr. Sands discussed the Civics mid-year assessment that is / will be administered to all 7th grade students enrolled in Civics.
Ms. Artime mentioned that our school will be participating in the MathCounts competition on Friday, February 17, 2023. The competition will be held at Miami-Dade College (Kendall campus).
Ms. Artime also gave kudos to Ms. Sellem and the art students for the awesome STEAM EXPO banner that they produced.
Mr. Rivers mentioned that there will be a second distribution of the Project UP-START questionnaires. Information was sent home via backpack 02/13/23. These questionnaires are used to connect students / families that may be experiencing homelessness with the necessary support and resources.
Ms. Lindo discussed the Black History Poster contest and other activities that will be happening during Black History Month.
