Topics Covered

Meeting called to order at 4:13 P.M.

Minutes for April 18 meeting were approved with corrections by:
1- Mr. Sweeting
2- Connor Picado

Minutes Review:

*Introducing Dr. Ruiz as the Temporary Principal as of April 24th.
* Congratulating Mr. Sweeting for being part of the EESAC team for the past 3 years now that Kyle Sweeting is off to high school.

Principal Update:

*Dr. Ruiz will attend the Budget Meeting on May 26.
* There are 648 futured students to CCMS.
* Summer School will be held at Lake Stevens Middle School for students that are failing two courses.
* Palm Springs Middle School will be in session for 6th and 7th graders only that will benefit in going up a grade level.
* Newcomer Summer Language Camp for ESOL level 1 students will be held at Lake Stevens Middle that would benefit language enrichment. Transportation will be provided. Students will be picked up at CCMS.
*Intersession for 8th graders that needs to recover more than 3 classes. Starts June 9-16.

End of School Activities:
* Dance show case is on May 31st, sponsored by Ms. Barahona
*8th Grade Picnic on June 2nd @ 1:45 P.M.
*8th Grade Ceremony on June 5th

S.I.P Updates:

* The Language Arts Department was the only team to turn in updates on the SIP.
* Based on the academic portion, Math needed the most assistance as per the test scores.
* In 2021-2022, the math department lacked remediation.
*This year (2022-2023) we had support by a Math Coach (Ms. Borges) and support from a Curriculum Support Specialist (Ms. Tejada).
*Culture- In January, CCMS held a Professional Development (Enhancing School Culture Through Team Building) to create a better bond and culture at the school.
* Based on the SIP, it has shown progression and growth from PM1 to PM3.
* We are not considered an ETO school, but will need extra support from the district.
*On May 26, 2023, we shall know if a Math Coach will be needed at CCMS.

Title I Updates:

*Title I did well with the audit.
*Thursday, May 25, 2023, Title I staff will be having a celebration in Miami Dade College Kendall Campus.
*Title I dropped $28,000 in funds.
*Magnet funds dropped as well.
* Dr. Ruiz purchased the same amount of teachers for the upcoming school year.
* $30,000 was left on the table from Title I funds, which it is not good.
* When Dr. Ruiz received access to utilize the funds from Title I, she was denied because she did not have access by the due date.
* Goals for next school year is to hire more security, and have a new set-up for visitors to enter the front office.

Student Updates:

* Kyle Sweeting enjoyed Gradventure and Prom.
* Kyle mentioned he may be in EESAC in High School.

Parent Update:

* Mr. Sweeting had an amazing experience being part of the EESAC Team. He really appreciates every teacher for their compassion in working with students.

Unfinished Business:

* Dr. Ruiz requested to do IDs for students that are going into 7th and 8th grade before school ends. New 6th graders, will receive a notification to come school to do their IDs before school begins.
* IDs will be mandatory for all students the upcoming school year.
*Black pants will no longer be accepted.
*Long Khaki shorts for boys will be acceptable, and for girls, Khaki Bermudas or Capri pants will be allowed.
* Red polos will continue to be worn. Black Polos will be allowed for the upcoming school year.
* Twice a week, students will be able to wear a school shirt from other clubs or sports. Students will have to purchase these shirts in school.
*School will decide on doing a Pre-Sale on school jackets during Summer recess.

*Motion on voting on Uniforms on May 23, 2023 was approved by:
1-Mr. Sweeting (last motion)
2- Mrs. Alberts
*The motion was approved anonymously:
*Red and Black Polo shirts; Khaki pants, Khaki shorts (Knee length), Bermuda pants, and Capri pants, to remove the black pants.
*CCMS Jackets only (Black and Red Jackets)

MOTIONS:

The EESAC by-laws were reviewed by the committee and no changes were made or proposed. Motion to approve the by-Laws as is on May 23, 2023 by:
1- Dr. Ruiz
2- Ms. Amanda Baez


*Motion was made to approve the End of the Year SIP on May 23, 2023 by:
1- Mrs. Albert
2- Mr. Sweeting

Announcement:
* 8th Grade Gradventure 2023 was a success.
*8th grade Prom was a success at Miami Lakes Hotel, Main Street.
* ESOL Field Trip to the park.
* EESAC funding was used to purchase trophies for end of year ceremony.
* School will be getting Bulletin Boards.

Next Meeting will be in August 2023.
