Approval of previous minutes
- The minutes from the last EESAC minute were accepted and approved.
School Improvement Process (monitoring, implementation, review, etc.), Mr. S. Rivers, Assistant Principal.
- Mr. Rivers welcomed the council members and guest.
- Mr. Rivers discussed Synergy X, which took place during the summer, and
how it relates to the 2023-24 School Improvement Process (SIP); Phase 1
(Data Analysis & Planning) – uses all available data points to identify
areas of focus and drafting a measurable outcome and actions steps.
- Described how input is gathered from staff and/or stakeholders.
- Final SIP will be presented to EESAC for approval after the Region’s
SIP review.
- 2023-2024 Assurances – Verification of EESAC Compliance was discussed
and signed.
Old/New business
- Ms. Vinat provided gave a brief synopsis about the United Teachers of
Dade (UTD) and the work that they champion in support of the contract,
teachers, and students.
- Membership is at 58%; need to reach 60% to avoid dismantling.
- Ms. Vinat thanked the PTSA for beautifying one of the teachers lounges
and expressed gratitude to the administration for restoring another
teachers’ lounge.
- She mentioned that the new lounge is bare and needs to be beautified;
FEA will assist in the make-over.
- Ms. Folse mentioned that her company may be able to provide furniture
and computers for the teachers’ lounge.
- Dr. G. Garcia mentioned the STEAM committee will be meeting soon to
start planning for the 2023-24 school year; the aim is “Go For The
Gold”
- Mr. Rivers discussed 2023-24 Cognia Accreditation; self-assessment
process that supports schools in meeting improvement goals and
sustaining commitments to better learner outcomes.
- The process includes aligning artifacts to each of the 30 standards
that focus on four key elements (Culture of Learning, Leadership for
Learning, Engagement of Learning, and Growth in Learning).
Announcements/Open Forum.
- Mr. Sands mentioned that the 7th graders will participate in the Kitty
Hawk field trip on September 19, 2023.
- The field trip is free for students and is STEAM related.
- Mr. Rivers mentioned that he would be communicating with the parents
regarding chaperoning and volunteering.
- Ms. Daniels mentioned that she would be attending a meeting this
afternoon regarding the Middle School sports program.
- Ms. Daniels also mentioned that the gymnasium floor will be refinished
soon.
