Approval of previous minutes.

 

School Improvement Process (monitoring, implementation, review, etc.), Mr. S. Rivers, Assistant Principal.
- Mr. Rivers discussed the Impact Review process; the purpose of the Impact
Review is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Action Steps for each Area of
Focus outlined in the SIP.
- The results of the Impact Review led to the development of additional action
steps for Phase III.
- Mr. Rivers shared information related to the 2024 Cognia Accreditation.

 

Old/New business
- The G. W. Carver Middle School Teacher of The Year and Rookie Teacher of the
Year are Ms. Sellem and Ms. Usatorres. We wish the good luck as they move to
the next level of the process.
- Spike-It-Up is an intramural volleyball tournament for 6th grade students. The
event will be held November 17, 2023 and will take place in the school’s
gymnasium.
- Mr. Sands provided an update on the Hall of Fame activities. At the moment, we
have received 3 applications for the Fal of Fame. All applications will be
reviewed by the school’s committee. The events related to the Hall of Fame
will commence the last Friday in February 2024.
- Washington D. C. field trip for 7th grade students is tentatively scheduled for
mid-April 2024. Mr. Sands is working on the details for the trip.
- Ms. Daniels provided an update on the athletics – Cross Country (Varsity) are
County Runner-Ups; Cross Country Junior Varsity are the County Champs. Girls
Volleyball team will compete for County Champs soon.
- Ms. Sands discussed providing an area to display our accolades (trophies)
throughout the school.
- A. Lamchick, Student Council President, briefly discussed the 3Gen Holocaust
Survivor presentation and the possibility of inviting them to speak to our
students / teachers.
