establishment and role of the school’s committee. She mentioned that 5
proposals were submitted to the committee.
- Mr. Rivers continued the discussion related to the 2023-2024 Florida School
Recognition Plan. He mentioned that the staff voted that the Florida School
Recognition Program’s financial award will be used for non-recurring bonuses to

A big thanks to the PTSA for sponsoring some kids that would have otherwise not
been able to attend.

Announcements/Open Forum.
- February 23, Hall of Fame Induction – Congratulations Ms. Shirely Richardson.
- Ms. Artime discussed some of the events planned for Coach Daniels anticipated
retirement. Celebratory events include, NBSPS Award nomination, a
staff/faculty-planned celebration, and planned “Coach Daniels Day”, when alumni
are invited to celebrate with Coach D. Other potential accolades are in the
works and would honor Coach Daniels’ dedication to Carver and her students over
her 40-year career at the school.
- PTSA President – Angela Rodriguez fundraising update. Angela discussed Miami
Dade fundraising event which raised approximately $20k, all of which is
dedicated to go toward the media center. The Color Run Event was also very
successful and raised approximately $16,000. This will go toward the “general
bucket”. Angela also discussed the importance of “spending” the funds raised
annually, otherwise it will be taxed.
- Black History Month – A special event is planned with FEA that will be
sponsored by PTSA. Event will entail inviting former alumni to have lunch with
students and speak with them first-hand about the importance of history.
