Meeting called to order at 4:12 p.m. We did not have a quorum; this was a discussion only meeting with no new motions to approve. Ms. Baez was acting secretary as a substitute for Ms. Perez-Castillo.
Previous meeting minutes were reviewed and approved with no correction at 4:15 p.m.
· Principal’s Updates
o Principal Ruiz is currently in New York at the Magnet Schools of America conference where Country Club is receiving an award for being a distinguished magnet school.
o We are currently waiting for a STEAM award of distinction; we had our steam visit two weeks ago. We believe we will be awarded either bronze or silver.
· SIP Updates
o School Climate surveys are currently being done by students and staff. We will use this data when creating the 2024-2025 SIP.
· Title I Updates
o We are in the process of ordering several rolling promethean boards which can be used during trainings, large presentations, in case of a promethean outage in classrooms, etc.
o Our currently enrollment looks good, it is higher than it was at this time last year.
o Dr. Ruiz will be at budget 4/25
o Our MYA data is looking consistent. We expect to remain a C school, but there is a pathway to a B that looks promising.
§ We are targeting certain students on track for proficiency via interventions and pull-out groups during class time.
· 67 ELA students are only 10 points away from being proficient.
· 100 ELA students need 20 points for learning gains.
· 97 Math students are only 12 points away from proficiency.
· 17 science students scored green on their MYAs.
· 15 students are being targeted in Civics.
o EOY testing will be taking place from 5/6 to 5/16 with make-ups taking place through 5/31.
§ Ms. Baez, School Assessment Coordinator, presented the testing plan to teachers and had her testing training at our last faculty meeting. She is using teacher feedback to make some testing adjustments.
o Spring break academy was very successful. We had over 50 students attending daily. Students won gift card, a Chromebook, and Beats headphones and we received positive feedback from students.
o We are currently in the process of receiving a grant, written by Dr. Ruiz and Ms. Martin, awarded to CCMS for the creation of a greenhouse which will be built of school grounds and maintained and run by the Environmental STEM students.
· Student Updates
o We had a student win 3rd place in the Blue-Ribbon Art contest.
o Our girls’ basketball team is undefeated.
o Our boys’ basketball team has won their last 3 games.
o Mr. Fabal is taking students on Learning for Life field trips on 4/23 and 4/25.
o 4/25 is also take your child to work day. Students must return a field trip form to receive an excused absence.
o 8th graders will be going to Gradventure on 5/3.
o 8th grade Prom will take place on 5/17
o Graduation and EOY awards will be taking place will be taking place at he end of the year.
· Parent and Family Engagement Updates
o Tomorrow, 4/18 is Fathers in Education Day. We will be having a breakfast with dads in the morning.
