Approval of previous minutes
Principal’s message, Mrs. I. Artime
• Ms. Artime welcomed everyone to the first 2024-2025 Educational Excellence
School Advisory Council (EESAC) meeting.
• She mentioned that the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) PM 1
administration started yesterday (September 16). The assessments will be
administered via Mathematics and Language Arts classes.
• We are currently looking to hire 1 full-time or 2 part-time School Security
Monitors.
• She advised the committee of the new transportation app (CHIPMUNK). The app
allows parents and students to see estimated arrival times for student
transportation to and from school. Information about the app has been sent
to all parents.
• Ms. Sellem is being recognized by the Mayor of Coral Gables for her
continuous “green” efforts.
• A new canopy, near rooms 17-20, has been installed.
• The Media Center renovations are coming along.
School Improvement Process (monitoring, implementation, review, etc.)
• The 2024-2025 School Improvement Process (SIP) was reviewed and approved.
• The 2024-2025 School Improvement Process (SIP) Signature Page was completed.
Old/New Business
• The 2024-2025 EESAC Assurances Checklist was reviewed, discussed, and
completed.
• The bylaws were also reviewed / updated.
• Dr. Garcia gave an update regarding S.T.E.A.M. and our ongoing efforts to
maintain our GOLD status.
• 7th grade students have a field trip planned to see the Kitty Hawk
presentation.
• Students discussed the 8th grade t-shirt designs and the possibility of
having an 8th grade sweatshirt / hoodie.
• Discussions about the EESAC budget were tabled for a future meeting.
Announcements/Open Forum
• Ms. Vinat provided an update regarding the United Teachers of Dade’s status.
• She thanked the parents for their continued support of teachers and
education.
