School Improvement Plan (SIP) Updates:
SIP Mid-Year Reflection must be uploaded on January 31st -Mr. Lazo
Mr. Lazo reviewed the Mid-Year Reflection which includes:

1. Instructional practices: Collaborative Planning
2. ESSA Subgroups
3. Instructional Practices: ELA
4. Student Attendance.

1.Collaborative Planning strengths and weaknesses as it relates to action steps:

Planning with instructional coaches: Teacher attendance was a challenge due to teacher absences, however, when teachers were present collaboration was taking place, uniformity throughout each grade level, and systems were in place.

Data: Coaches assisted teachers with data analysis and used to guide instruction in whole group and DI. Specific academic subgroups were targeted.

Planning with administration: Although there were days when administration was not in attendance, coaches provided administration with updates related to collaborative planning.

Product reviews: provide a snapshot of student work and may not represent the work of all students, however, feedback was provided to teachers to improve teaching and learning practices.

Walkthroughs: Feedback shared with teachers individually or during common planning.

Next steps: Coaches and administration will continue to attend collaborative planning with all teachers. Lessons, resources, product reviews, and feedback will continue.

2. ESSA Subgroups strengths and weaknesses as it relates to action steps:

Data and Resources: DI and Data Driven instruction is taking place.

Push-In Support: Strategic push-in support is taking place.

Corrective Feedback: Timely teacher feedback is being provided.

Professional Opportunity using the Gradual Release Model: The GRRM is being implemented throughout instruction, including DI, as identified through walkthroughs and product reviews.

Building Capacity via Coach/Teacher Collaborations: Scheduling issues may result in coaching cycles taking longer than expected, restraining the number of teachers placed on a cycle yearly. However, teachers placed on a cycle receive tailored coaching based on specific teacher need.

Next Steps: Strategic push in support will now take place within specific classes in Grades 3-5 in order to further maximize proficiency. Specific targeted students will include ESE, ELL, and bubble.

3.Instructional Practices: ELA

Professional Development: Teachers in all grade levels have been provided with a professional development session related to the GRRM. Strategies are revisited throughout the year during collaborative planning.

Collaborative Planning: Teacher attendance was a challenge due to teacher absences, however, when teachers were present collaboration was taking place, uniformity throughout each grade level, and systems were in place.
Product reviews: provide a snapshot of student work and may not represent the work of all students, however, feedback was provided to teachers to improve teaching and learning practices.

Administrative Walkthroughs: Administrative walkthrough schedule was created for all teachers on a weekly basis. The Leadership Team meets weekly on Fridays to further discuss walkthroughs and to review teacher feedback that was provided.

Building Capacity via Coach/Teacher Collaborations: Scheduling issues may result in coaching cycles taking longer than expected, restraining the number of teachers placed on a cycle yearly. However, teachers placed on a cycle receive tailored coaching based on specific teacher need.

Next Steps: Administration and Coaches will continue to dissect data and use information to make instructional resource selections for remediation and re-teach purposes. Instructional Coaches will continue to provide teachers with job-embedded PDs as necessary.

4.Student Attendance.
Attendance Incentives: Students have encouraged parents to bring them to school to participate in the monthly ice cream party. Students who qualify for the incentive has increased steadily month to month.

Attendance Monitoring: Attendance continues to be an issue for students in Kindergarten on Mondays and Fridays. However, in grades 1-5, attendance has improved on Mondays and Fridays.

Truancy Meetings: Attendance counseling sessions proved to be positive with students that met with our School Counselor on a monthly basis.

Attendance Follow-up: Parents have been receptive to truancy meetings as evident by decreased follow-up meetings with repeating truant students.

Coffee with the Principal: Coffee with the Principal has not taken place on a monthly basis because of scheduling priority issues.

Next Steps: The Attendance Review Committee Team will continue to meet to review student attendance and conduct meetings as necessary.

All in favor, approved at 3:50 P.M.
