Welcome
- Mr. Rivers delivered the welcome.
Approval Of Previous Minutes
- Minutes from previous meeting were approved.
Principal’s Message
- Mr. Rivers mentioned the upcoming Teacher of The Year (TOY) dinner.
Carver will be there in support of Ms. Arca (Teacher of the Year) and Ms.
Chavez (Rookie Teacher of the Year).
- Carver students will be participating in the Science Expo this weekend
(February 02, 2025) at MDC-North.
- Black History Month luncheon, sponsored by our PTSA, is scheduled for
February 06, 2025.
- Spanish Talent Show scheduled for February 07, 2025 (after school).
- Fentanyl presentation is scheduled for February 07, 2025 (for students).
School Improvement Process (Monitoring, Implementation, Review, Etc.)
- Mr. Rivers discussed the Mid-Year reflection process. The process
includes reviewing the current SIP, reviewing available data sources and
the action steps.
- Additional Action Steps will be added to each of the areas of focus.
Old / New Business
- Mr. Rivers discussed the current waivers (Labor Contract Waiver and
Alternative Supplement Model Waiver) that Carver has on file and the
proposed waivers for the upcoming school year.
- The faculty vote for the waivers, as well as the vote to modify our bell
schedule, were shared with the committee.
- The 2025-2026 waivers were approved, as well as the continuation of our
Block Schedule.
- Dr. Garcia mentioned that we are waiting for the District to contact us
regarding the S.T.E.A.M. visit.
Announcements / Open Forum
- Edoardo discussed the Student Perspectives initiative and ways in which
we can collect student responses (i.e. suggestion box, creating a QR
code, etc.).
- Ms. Vinat mentioned that UTD is closely monitoring legislation that will
impact teachers / students.
- Mr. Sands mentioned that the Washington DC trip has been approved. OSP
will open soon for all eligible students. Space is limited to 50
students.
- Friends of Carver (annual fundraiser for the Carver Middle and
Elementary) is scheduled for April 5, 2025.
