Approval of previous minutes
- Minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

 

Principal’s message, Mrs. I. Artime.
- Ms. Artime mentioned that she, along with Ms. Basso, will be representing G. W. Carver Middle School at the Magnet Schools of America
conference in Tennessee.
- There will be an informational meeting (via Zoom) for parents of students that will be attending the Washington, DC field trip on April 09; link has
been shared with parents.
- She mentioned that the Writing assessment has concluded.
- May start other assessments (FAST PM3 for Math and Reading, Civics EOC, Algebra EOC, Geometry EOC, AP exams; school will be locked-
down for most of the assessments.

 

School Improvement Process (monitoring, implementation, review, etc.), Mr. S. Rivers, Assistant Principal.
- Mr. Rivers mentioned that we are continuously monitoring the SIP; specifically, the action steps that have been developed.
- Mr. Rivers mentioned that links for the School Climate Surveys for parents, teachers, and students have been shared with the appropriate group.
Students will complete the survey during their Social Studies class.
- Data from the surveys will be reviewed by the Leadership and may be used in the development of the 2025-2026 SIP.

 

Old/New business
- Mr. Rivers mentioned that Take Your Child To Work And Beyond is scheduled for April 24, 2025.
- Students / parents wishing to participate in the event must complete a field trip form and return it on or before April 21, 2025.
- Mr. Rivers shared information related to a new District initiative – Hazel Telehealth Initiative.
- Hazel Telehealth offers students free, on-demand physical health services and scheduled mental health therapy before, during, and after school.
- Parents must sign consent for services.
- Additional information was sent to families via SchoolMessenger.

 

Announcements/Open Forum.
- Dr. Garcia mentioned the recent STEAM visit; we scored well, and recommendations were provided by the team.
- Two students represented Carver and the District at the State’s Science Fair.
- Ms. Vinat (UTD) mentioned that the Union is closely monitoring proposed bills that will directly impact Public Schools.
- Carver participated in the Miami Sewer Tower competition; earned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place recognition.
- Carver also participated in the Minecraft challenge, 1st place recipients.
- The Green Team has launched a campaign to provide water bottle refilling stations around the school.
