Topics Covered
Mr. Bevilacqua (PEC Chair) reviewed the by-laws; copies were given to all
members present. Discussion on article 4 requiring 1 post secondary student
rep and 1 post secondary alternate rep. Mention was made that a post-secondary
student's term expires upon graduation. Concern on what to do regarding this
issue. Issue to be addressed at next meeting. Ms. Thomas and Ms. Borgen
presented information on Student Achievement Enhancement Program for FCAT.
$19,000 appropriated for tutorial instruction and temporary instructors.
Mr. O'Brien asked if money could be used for FCAT tutorial transportation.
FCAT parent night on Nov. 21st. Ms. lawrence and Ms. Mendolia to provide
FCAT orientation to parents at 7:00 PM on Nov. 21st, F Cafeteria.
Ms. Borgen explained that the District's overview committee met and is
holding $3 million for MLEC. She requested that part of the money be used to help paint facility noting that SACS and COE accrediting agencies would be assessing our school for accreditation in 2004. Mr. Weaver brought up issues of
student concern to be put in writing and submitted at a furture meeting. The
town of Miami Lakes is forming an Educational Committee. They will consider
our request for a marquee. cademy presentations to be making presentations
on early release days. Mr. Gonzalez reported on inclusion of a Real Estate
Broker's license course for begin next trimester at MLEC in the evenings.
He also reported on inclusion on incentives for employees.
