Topics Covered:

The meeting opened at 8:30 am with introductions. Ms. Fernandez was present and she is the parent of a new sixth grader, Nicholas Fernandez from Joella Goode.

The SIP plan was discussed and Ms. Harris informed us that we have writing goals for our would be 8th graders.

A new science department head is in place and science is not tested until the 8th grade. The students are starting to prepare now. There are 3 beautiful science labs currently in place.

Incentives are also necessary in order to raise parental involvement. It is currently very low.

Discipline and safety is not an issue. A camera system will be put in place this school year.

Smart Boards are currently in place in all classrooms.

Last years P.E. scores were sent home from fitness testing.

Electives-Last year Art, P.E., Spanish, and Journalism were offered. We have not included computer, band, and guitar.

Mr. Bueno then discussed that 7 - 8 cameras will be installed throughout the building. Tubes will be seen around the building that may not be visually pleasing. There will be a state of the art camera in the cafetorium valued at $50,000.

Funds will be coming from the district to assist Coach Covone in making the work out room a little nicer.

ID machine is on the way.

Kaplan Series books have been ordered for the math and language art department bell ringers.

Jamestown Readers are being used in Social Studies, Science, and Reading.

Due to the fact that we are a "D" school, the students will be given a tri-weekly assessment.

FCAT test maker was purchased to assist in making the test. The tesst looks just like the FCAT,

The social studies department will be the "work house" of the school. School wide events/mandates will go through the SS department.

Saturday School will begin the Saturday after Labor Day (9/12). Lunch will be provided- Pizza and Drink. Breakfast will be from 8:30 to 9 am. The students will be given cereal and milk. Ms. Harris is over seeing it.
