Topics Covered:

The meeting was called to order by Ms. Belkin at 8:25 a.m. Due to the presence of new staff in attendance, formal introductions of each person present were done. Then, Ms. Belkin reviewed the agenda and presented Dr. Merritt, AP. Dr. Merritt, presented information in regards to the SIP goal for parent involvement. She went over the following activities and dates:

August--------- New student orientation, prior to school commencing

September------School wide open house

September------ESOL open house, done to include our non-English speaker parents and explain information in their native language.

October-December------ Hosted various ESOL workshops to assist parents on how to help their children in school

November---------Science department parent night

December---------Social Studies department parent night (Holidays around the world) showcase as part of the holiday concert.

January----------Participation at the American Feeder Pattern Curriculum fair

February----------Math department parent night

Following Dr. Merritt’s presentation, Ms. Lebeña, AP, presented information in regards to the SIP waivers. The waivers were voted on and approved by the faculty on February 3, 2009. The waivers approved for the 09-10 school year to meet the SIP goals for CCMS are as follows.

1. 6 teachers selected to assist during their planning period.
2. Athletic director supplement
3. Activities director supplement
4. 2 uniform enforcement supplements
5. Data manager supplement
6. Block schedule with 2 hour planning on alternate days.

Following the waivers, Ms. Belkin presented upcoming important dates.

1. 6th grade curriculum fair on Saturday, April 18 from 11a.m. – 1 p.m.
2. 8th grade breakfast on Saturday, May 2 at 9:30 a.m.
3. 8th grade dance on Friday, May 29th

The student representatives were then asked by Ms. Belkin to express any concerns or issues the student body may have. The students expressed an interest in having some variations to their uniforms. They would like to have another color option of shirt and pants. Additionally, they would like for Mr. Bueno to consider a spirit week prior to the end of the year and some grade level t-shirts they can wear to school.

Ms. Belkin went on to remind everyone that the last EESAC meeting for the year would be in May. A motion to adjourn was made by Ms. Belkin and second by Ms. Covone at 8:55 a.m.
