Meeting was called to order at 8:08 a.m.

Ms. Miyar introduced two new members: Mrs. Estrada and her son, Daniel Estrada who is currently in 6th grade.

Review of the minutes. Heras motioned to approve the minutes. Prado seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved with corrections.

Mrs. Estrada and Daniel Estrada can be a parent and a student on the member roster. Heras motioned to make Mrs. L. Estrada and Daniel Estrada an alternate parent and alternate student on the official roster. Yvonne Gary seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

Principal's Update - Mrs. Prado

The district will be removing two teacher planning days and three early release days due to Hurricane Irma.

During the first FTE, CCMS had 582 students enrolled. Now for the October FTE, we have 631 enrolled students. Last year, we had 623 students enrolled here at CCMS.

We generated a gifted supplement and an ESOL supplement.

We are currently in the process of hiring a band teacher that is relocating from Clearwater, Florida.

We generated another teacher pact. I elected not to use it but to generate 25 extra period supplements.

Title 1 budget
It didn't fund the current 8th period schedule. It was purchased.
Title One funds will also purchase 25 additional computers and internet drops. The new computer lab will be in room 32.

Today, October 24th, we are starting our first visit of future 6th graders from Joella C. Goode Elementary.

Magnet applications are in full effect. January 15th is the due date for all School of Choice applications. 72 applications have been submitted to attend CCMS as of today.

School safety is the number one concern. Cleanliness of building is very important.

The school year’s first quarter ends Thursday. Instruction is the focus.

Science data chats start next week.

As of yesterday, 205 students are currently failing one or more classes. What can we do to improve this?
Shon indicated that student distractions assist in students failing. Electronics, video games, etc..

CCMS is being considered for an iPad Grant. Every student and teacher will get an iPad and a two-year data plan from Verizon. We will know if we've been approved by December 31st.

EESAC has discussed allocating up to $2,999 for student incentives. Heras motioned to approve the allocation. Leon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Ms. Miyar - New Business

The School Improvement Plan (SIP) has been presented to the Region and approved and is ready for upload. On page 8, there were changes to the PFEP link. This is a liquid document that can be changed.
Vote on the 2017-2018 SIP. Heras motioned to approve it. Leon seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

Student updates - none

Curry-Coffee asked that her name be updated and corrected in the minutes.

Ms. Miyar indicated that If you will be absent from an EESAC meeting, you must notify Ms. Miyar. If you have two unexcused absences, it will be considered a resignation from the EESAC.

Homecoming dance will be held on Thursday.


Next Meeting will be held on November 28th.
