Meeting was called to order at 8:08 a.m.

Evelyn Rodriguez sent a replacement from Miami Dade College, Fabiana Ferrer, to represent her in the meeting.

Dr. Drubi was excused from the meeting.

Review of the minutes. Yvonne Gary was in attendance at the December meeting. She should be taken off the absent list. We need to change Coffee-Curry to Curry-Coffee on the EESAC Roster

Mrs Prado-Lima motioned that the minutes be approved with corrections. Curry-Coffee seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

Principal’s update

Report card distribution
February 6th during 1st period.

191 students currently have an “F” in at least one core class
Mrs. Prado-Lima will identify the class that offers the most academic challenges

Bowling season
Mrs. Brunson sponsors our bowling team. They went to the Bird Bowl. Matches are held during the school day.

12 students went to “Rally to Tally” with Mrs. Miguelina Rodriguez

Mrs. Curry-Coffee sponsored a team of 16 students in the “We the People” contest. It was an amazing experience. Three students presented to the faculty and did an awesome job.

Project Citizen is the next competition coming up. Mrs. Curry Coffee is preparing the team.

Limited internet access prevents kids success. Free WiFi is everywhere to do homework.

Next week is Student Services Week. Start with Hello is the anti-bullying campaign that will be utilized this year. Teachers will receive activities and tips during this time. We may possibly send tips to parents as well.

A banner where students can write anonymously what counselors have done for them. This will be located in the cafeteria in a central location.

We rolled over 462 kids and we have 295 magnet applications.
Mr. Figuerero and Mrs. Prado-Lima will go to the Center of Modern Languages and recruit 5th graders. We will have French as an elective next year.

Subject selection process is currently taking place. This process is mainly for electives because FSA scores determine whether the student has advanced or regular classes.

The faculty will be voting soon on whether or not will have 8 periods again next school year.

We have 112 ESE students and 158 ELL students in ESOL 1-4. This year we have exited 30 students from ESOL. As of this year, we only have 3 students who have been ESOL 7 years or more.

Math and Science night was sponsored by Miami Dade College and was spearheaded by Mrs. Leon along with the Math and Science department It was amazing.

Math gave a winter packet to prepare for the mid year exam. AP1 was the Baseline test and AP2 was given to assess student progress mid year in Math and ELA.
The iReady AP2 results projects are that 34% of our student will be proficient in math on the 2018 FSA.

Weekly DI days in ELA classes

The writing test will be March 6th and April 16th starts the FSA testing season.

Science mid-year data needs to be evaluated.

The Civics mid year will be administered on February 6th.

The “B” is possible with all these great systems and strategies in place.

Spanish Lakes visit with Mrs. Perez. It will be a family event and we will be there to promote Country Club Middle School.

PSN visit took place last week.

Tours have been done around the building usually in 6th grade classes. This has been a successful effort. The goal is out of the 462 to roll over 300 students.

Title I visit happened in January. Title I money must be spent by February 9th. Orders will be put in by tomorrow.

Office Staff Changes
Mrs. York retired.
Mrs Belcher went to a high school.
Mrs. Morales is our Treasurer/Principal's secretary.
Vicky is now in the office
Mrs. Perez is full time
Mrs. Yeager will be our Community Support Specialist and she will work on Monday and Tuesday.
We now have a custodian position available and a paraprofessional position available.

Student Updates

Bathrooms have mean things on the stalls.
Principal response - We take bullying very seriously. Next year, we want to paint the stalls a different color to discourage the writing on the bathroom stalls.

The Principal will be hosting a lunch with 10-8th graders on Thursday to get the pulse of the school.

City of Miami Gardens will be hosting a Heritage Bowl Mrs. Curry-Coffee will be spearheading that on February 8th.

EESAC composition request - We will fix it by March’s due date. This will be discussed at the next meeting.

Mrs. Munoz translated in Spanish what was discussed in the meeting for all the Spanish speaking parents.
Friday, February II will be “Take Your Child to Work” day. Parents make sure that your child is supervised on this day.

Tuesday, February 27th will be our next meeting.

58 students are five points in Jeopardy of moving from a level 3 to a level 2 or 10 points away from being a level 3. There is intervention in place for these students. We will be using Common lit and iReady with these students.
