Principal Updates
Ms. Cynthia Lima

Panorama Survey: . All students have to take this survey. The survey asks students about elective offerings, school culture, feelings they have towards their teacher, principal etc. The survey was done last year and that is what we based our School Improvement Plan on at Synergy. Synergy is a Professional Development that occurs in the summer that all schools must attend. Sixth and Eighth graders are taking the survey through their social studies classes and the seventh graders are taking it through Science. As of today we are at 22% completion. Ms. Lima will send a survey to ask faculty to see who is interested and available to attend Synergy, it is recommended that the faculty that attends Synergy are the faculty that are willing to assist in professional development at the school.

Yesterday we just finished FSA Practice Sixth Grade Exam. I will be looking at the data today and focusing on student proficiency. Eighth graders in Science are taking their post test. This year we have focused more on Science. We have implemented the Research Class consisting of 3 sections with 75 students. These are eighth graders that have the potential to be proficient. We also have Saturday School for Science that started April 6 with Ms. Gutierrez and Ms. Spicer, an In House Camp, and 27 students taking Biology and tutoring after school.

Ms. Martin is working together with Ms. Spicer to review the tested seventh grade benchmarks, they have the same common planning period. The same with Dr. Lopez and Mr. Bellinger.

Algebra: We have six schools attending Florida National University to have an Algebra Camp.
Geometry: Saturday School
Civics: Curriculum has been completed. Saturday School beginning 4/13/19.
Also, finalizing plans for In House Civics Camp.

Testing: We have had a very successful FSA Writing Week with 96% of students completed.

Attendance: If anyone has any suggestions on how to motivate and minimize student absences and early student pickup. Incentives: a movie day in the cafeteria or a dance for students with good attendance.

Congratulations to Ms. Rita Dozier and Family for being recognized as the 2018-2019 MDCPS Spring Family Matter Engagement Program Nominee for Country Club Middle School

Parent and Family Engagement Updates: Ms. Dominguez
Parents want to request PTC and I take the opportunity to inform them that there is free assistance for them such as after care, tutoring, parent portal, teacher emails, and other resources.

Ms. Lima added that she will be sending the CRAZE Video presented by
Chief Edwin Lopez of Miami Dade Country to faculty and also show it in the next faculty meeting.

A Lock Down Drill is conducted monthly. The drill is revised every month personally by me. And it is sent to faculty and staff for feedback. Perimeter is locked at 9am.

Student Updates:
Saida Brown suggested that a calendar or schedule should be provided for the eighth grade activities to be able to keep better track of eighth grade activities. Ms. Lima added that it could be added on our website. Our Teacher of the Year Ms. Cannon and Rookie Teacher of the Year Mr. Ahmed are being recognized at our school website.
Gradventure: May 3rd with 50 students attending.

Ms. Karan-Miyar

Minutes posted in December of 2018 were accidently posted as December 2019. The Office of School Improvement suggested to document it in the minutes and that it would be fine, since no changes can be made once they are archived.
It should say 12/18/2018 not 12/18/2019.
