Merlin Dominguez:Title I Updates

Good Morning EESAC council and parents my name is Merlin Dominguez and I am your CIS, Community Involvement Specialist. I am here to inform you that the Title 1 meeting took place on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 4:30pm in the Cafetorium. Title 1 flyers were sent home and an iMessenger call was made with information about the meeting. The Title 1 notification letter was distributed and sent home with the students. If anyone needs additional copies, I have additional copies in the parent resource area in the main office. Here at Country Club Middle School we want our parents to be engaged and involved in your child's education. The Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP) was developed with input from our parents and the parent engagement survey distributed at the Title 1 meeting. Here is a copy of the PFEP. To develop the plan suggestions were taken from our parents and the answers to their survey questions. This plan is to assist, improve, and help our students to excel and our families to be engaged in the education of their students. In addition, the following parents are the 2019-2020 DAC/PAC representatives for the 2019-2020 school year: Marcela Pena, Rita Dozier and Elda Estrada. They were selected and presented at the Title 1 Meeting. These parents will attend the PAC and DAC meetings on behalf of the school. Parent Representatives will attend meetings and bring back the information to share. At the Title 1 meeting I also distributed and discussed the School Parent Compact. The School Parent Compact lists the responsibilities of the parents and the school to work together for the success of the students. In addition, during the Title 1 meeting of Wednesday, September 18 the Parent Engagement Survey was distributed and collected to compile the data that helped in developing the Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP). It is important for parents to know that they have a right to request a parent teacher conference with their child's teacher and to become informed about their child's progress or failures. I would like to conclude by telling you that I am working directly with the parents to make sure that the parents have the necessary access to the parent portal to view their child's grades and progress in their classes. After you take a moment to review the PFEP do you have any questions?

Ms. Villazon will address it with the Head Custodian. Ms. Miyar added that the bathroom by the I-Prep Room does not have soap.

Daniel Estrada wants to resign from EESAC and Mahya Shearn can not make it to the EESAC meetings. We need two additional students to join EESAC. Daniel Rivas and DorisAnn Ward are going to replace the two students that will not be on EESAC anymore.

Community Rep and PTSA president Maria Rivas mentioned that they are starting the PTSA. I was elected President of the PTSA thank you everyone for voting. We are looking forward to working for our kids and community. That is great news for us. The Vice President is Mrs. Tracey McDuffie.

School Wide Trips- Ms. Villazon stated that we have an 8th grade end of year trip: GradVenture. School Wide we go the the Dade County Youth Fair. An educational field trip would be something good for the kids to do.
The 7th grade students went on a field trip to see the Kitty Hawk Play.

Community Representative Updates:
Evelyn Rodriguez: Next meeting I will bring the MDC Children's Holiday Event flyers. If you want CCMS students to perform I can give you the contact to the person that organizes that portion of the event.

EESAC Calendar was distributed. There will be an EESAC training from 8:30am-3:30pm on October 25, 2019. I encourage you to attend.

A motion was made for the transferring of EESAC funds of up to $2,999 to principal for school incentives by Ms Rodriguez. There was a discussion before voting on motion. It was mentioned that Mr. Crespo gave suggestions for the school incentives, every year we can transfer $2,999.00 of EESAC funds to our Principal for school incentives. The incentives he mentioned were i-Ready, criteria for lessons passed can be discussed. Students with good grades. Ms. Cannon added that students should be given incentives for getting Honor Roll , to keep the students more academically driven and motivated. Honor Roll Criteria should be sent to the teachers to reinforce in their classrooms. In our SIP we have Hurricane Bucks to add as incentives for the students, they can be used as food incentives, gift cards. Ms. McDuffie added that there is a vendor that is approved by MDCPS that sells popsicles in different flavors.
Ms. Rivas added that we should ask the students what they would like. Ms. Saavedra added that she asked her students what incentives they would like, some suggestions were chips, soda, donuts, t-shirts that they can purchase, free time, movie day. Jordyn Dozier-Daniels added that a good incentive would be field trips. Ms. McDuffie added that for the T-shirts the art students can draw a logo for the clubs. The PTSA can then sell the shirts. Ms. Cannon asked if there is an Honor Roll activity that the students can participate in before the nine weeks end. Ms. Villazon added that since reports need to be generated reflecting the students GPA etc. The Honor Roll activity would be after the closing of the nine weeks.

Ms. Rodriguez Motions to Transfer $2,999.00 for the Principal to use as student incentives.

Ms. McDuffie seconds, motion carries.
