II. Call to Order
*Mr. Perez called the EESAC Committee meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. on November 14, 2013, at International Studies Preparatory Academy at Gables (ISPA).
III. Roll Call
*Mr. Perez, Mrs. Iglesias, Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Bez, Ms. Lugo, Mr. Weiner, Mr. Mazloum, Ms. Luna, & Nelson Noa
IV. Approval of Minutes from October 1, 2013
*Ms. Lugo made a motion to approve the minutes, and Ms. Iglesias seconded the motion.
* Minutes from October 1, 2013 were approved by all members.
V. School Improvement Plan 2013-2014 Review and Updates
*Copies are available from Mr. Perez upon request.
*Currently, it’s pending approval from the MDCPS School Board on November 19, 2013, or December 5, 2013.
*The MDCPS District has approved the SIP.
IV. Recruitment Update for 2014-2015
*Mr. Perez expressed that there have been many inquiries regarding the enrollment process this year.
*To date, one hundred fifty students have applied. This year 600 applications are expected.
*Foreign students currently in France and Italy have made inquiries regarding ISPA’s application process.
*Next year, approximately 125 new students will be accepted.
*ISPA held its first informational meeting in October, and there was a large turnout.
*Saturday testing will begin in December for the Spanish Program.
V. EESAC Budget
*Mr. Perez mentioned that currently EESAC has a budget of $1258.04 based on our student population.
*Members were asked to research areas where the money may be used to help the school.
*Ms. Lugo suggested purchasing the “Turn It In” Service.
*Nelson Noa recommended purchasing the online video programs: Bright Stone.
VI. PTSA Update
*The PTSA will continue holding informational meeting in ISPA’s Café through January.

VII. New Business
*Mr. Weiner mentioned that he would like to see more school speed zone signs around ISPA for the safety of our students. Mr. Perez mentioned that he would also like to see more signs, and he is addressing the issue with the district at this time.
*Diana Luna, Kassandra Casanova’s mother, mentioned that Malala, USA, an organization that Kassandra began with three of her friends is working with Ms. Erwin to begin a club at our school. The purpose of the club would be to promote women’s rights and education. One of the club goals is to offer all students help with the college application process.
*Mr. Mazloum offered to make Student Identification Cards for ISPA students this year. He will be working with Nelson Noa and Ms. Lugo to make the ID Cards.
VIII. Adjournment
*Ms. Bez moved to adjourn the meeting, and Ms. Iglesias seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
